Latest research carried out by Zoopla and its data company Hometrack, has identified the areas in Britain where you can get the most floor space for your money.
Across the country, the average cost per square foot of property is currently £211, 26% higher than just five years ago.
It’s no surprise that London tops the table as the least affordable, with the average cost per square foot at £496. South Wales is the cheapest region, offering you the most space for your money at £79 per square foot, a staggering 80% cheaper than London.
So where does that leave the Midlands? Coming in as the 5th and 6th most expensive regions for average cost per square footage is the East and West Midlands, with 2017 prices currently at £164 and £173. A growth of just over 20% over the past five years. Still great value however in comparison to London prices and other regions across the country such as the South and East of the Country.
The square footage of a property is seen as one of the best indicators of calculating its worth, and a great way for you to compare which properties offer you the most space for your money.
According to Lawrence Hall, Spokesperson for Zoopla 'Analysing property prices per square foot is an effective way of seeing where you can achieve the most space for your money and can help steer you to areas you may want to focus your property search on, depending on your budget’.
Lawrence also identifies the Midlands and the North as the best places to maximize the amount of space possible and ensure the best possible value for money.
