Local information about Kingstanding
This area of north Birmingham lends its name to a ward in Erdington council constituency. (Kingstanding ward includes Perry Common, St Mary's College, Witton Lakes and some of Kingstanding, Wyrley Birch.) The area was mainly rural until 1928 when large-scale residential development began; it went on to become Europe’s largest council housing development. The locality has two libraries and is notable for its covered drinking water reservoir. The main road running through Kingstanding is the B4149 with additional access to the A452, A4041 and M6 motorway.
